Land claims

A claim locks a piece of land to you. Nobody else can build, break or open your chests inside it unless you trust them. Claim before you build anything you care about.

Before you claim

You need $5,000. New players start with $250, the Journey pays $7,500 and the five Claims tutorial quests add $1,500, so most players can afford their first claim by the end of the Journey. The price is the same for a tiny plot or a huge one, and claims cannot be stretched later, so leave yourself room to grow.

Tip Visit /warp tut to see the claim tutorial and start the Claims I to V quests.

The easy way: /claims

  1. Type /claims and choose Claim Your Corner, or Quick Plot Sizes if you just want a square.
  2. Quick plot: stand in the middle of your spot and pick Cottage (16 × 16), Homestead (32 × 32) or Estate (64 × 64).
  3. Custom shape: you get a wooden claim axe (keep one inventory slot free). Left-click a block at one corner, then right-click the block at the opposite corner. Height does not matter.
  4. The review screen opens by itself. Click Walk the Boundary to see a private outline for 60 seconds. Your land is not protected yet.
  5. Click Name Your Claim and type a name (1 to 48 letters, numbers, underscores or hyphens, no spaces).
  6. Click Protect Land, then confirm. The $5,000 is taken and your land is protected straight away.

Picking a size

Any rectangle works as long as width times length is 30,000 or less. All of them cost $5,000.

What a claim protects

Inside your claim, only you and your trusted members can place or break blocks and open chests, barrels and other containers. Visitors can still walk through. Every claim reaches from the bottom of the world to the build limit, so tunnels under it and towers above it are covered too. Anything outside the edges is not protected.

Trusting friends

  1. Type /claims and open Your Homesteads.
  2. Pick the claim, then Members.
  3. Click Add Member and type your friend's exact username. They must have joined Survival before.
  4. Confirm. They can now build and use everything in that claim.
/rg addmember <claim> <player>
Trust someone by command
/rg removemember <claim> <player>
Remove them

Tip Members can empty your chests, so only add people you trust. Being in your party does not give anyone claim access. Only you can rename, change settings or unclaim.

Protection settings

Open the claim in /claims and choose Protection Settings. Each one can be set to Allow, Deny or back to the server default. The menu only shows the settings you are allowed to change.

SettingWhat it controls
Player CombatWhether players can fight inside your claim
Doors & SwitchesWhether visitors can use doors, buttons and levers
Container AccessWhether visitors can open chests and other containers
Mob SpawningWhether mobs can spawn on your land
Creeper ExplosionsWhether creepers can damage your blocks
TNT ExplosionsWhether TNT can damage your blocks
Welcome MessageText shown when someone walks in (up to 120 characters)
Farewell MessageText shown when someone walks out

Managing your land

From Your Homesteads you can also rename a claim (spaces and capitals are fine there) and show its boundary for 60 seconds.

/claims
See every claim you own and manage it
/rg info
Stand inside a claim to see its owner and members
/rg flags <claim>
See every setting on your claim
/unclaim <claim>
Remove a claim (asks you to confirm)

Making it bigger or moving

There is no way to stretch an existing claim. Out of room? Claim the land right next to it as a second claim. Claims can touch, they just cannot overlap. To start over somewhere else, use /unclaim, then claim the new spot. Unclaiming removes the protection immediately and refunds nothing. Your blocks stay where they are, but anyone can break them.

How many claims you can own

Your limit covers every Survival world together and goes up with your rank.
